The Wine Feed, a wine delivery service in downtown Raleigh

The Wine Feed is a new Raleigh-based internet shop where you can order wine and have it delivered (by bike!) within a two-mile radius of their office in the Carter Building at 18-B Glenwood Ave.

The service is offered from 2-4 pm and 6-7:30 pm, Monday-Friday and 3-5 pm on Saturday. If you need a delivery outside the two-mile radius, they also offer in-town car delivery with the purchase of six bottles or more. Orders must be placed at least 30 minutes prior to the desired delivery time. Of course, you can also pick up the wines in person. (If you do stop in, visit my friend, Lori White’s, art studio nearby!)

Right now there are about 20 wines available, all under $20.

Pinot and whole hog sandwiches from Coon Rock Farm, a local, sustainable, family owned farm, will be available this Saturday, February 13th from 12-4pm at Wine Authorities in Durham. Donation request is $5 cash per sandwich with wine and 100% of the money raised goes to the Food Bank of Durham. Canned and non-perishable food items also gladly accepted with your donation.

Note: This event was rescheduled due to snow and ice over the last two weekends.

Eric sent me the first article in an ongoing series by the head chef at Alinea restaurant in Chicago, Grant Achatz, about pairing wines and food. Subsequent articles touch on preparing offal (internal organs), pork belly, and wild turbot, what goes into preparing a dish and then how to pair that completed dish with wine. An interesting read.

It’s been one year since we started this little website about wine events in the Triangle and I hope all of our readers have been enjoying our site as much as we’ve enjoyed updating it.

We’ve been very fortunate to have made a lot of new friends, both online and in person, thanks to this website and corresponding Twitter account.

So, Happy First Birthday to us and hopefully many more years filled with delicious wine dinners and tastings to report on!

Craig, Seth and Randy from the Wine Authorities in Durham presents (We Always Promised You a) Rosé Garden music video filmed at the Duke Botanical Gardens. It’s silly, of course, but their efforts to convert the masses to drink pink have raised over $1,600 for the Triangle chapter of Susan B. Komen for the Cure so far.

We just found this great blog that lists tons of specials for appetizers, dinner and drinks in Raleigh for those who are looking to spend cash wisely when you just don’t feel like making dinner at home. One nice feature is the quick visual reference of daily drink specials on the right sidebar. It’s not all wine, but we have to have a little food now and again, right? :)
