Italian Wine Dinner @ Jujube
leandra wrote this on September 25, 2008
Jujube in Chapel Hill will be hosting an Italian-inspired wine dinner on Wednesday, October 1st, starting at 7pm for $65 per person plus tax and gratuity. Ashley Hall, from Kermit Lynch, will be in charge of the wine education portion of the evening.
Eric and I have eaten lunch here many times and the food is consistently delicious… although this is a asian-style restaurant, so what’s with the Italian wine dinner?
This question was answered by the folks at Hope Valley Bottle Shop…
Several months back Chef Charlie Deal came up with an idea to incorporate other favorite dishes into his theme – every Wednesday night Jujube turns into Jujubinos, and has all Italian specials and offers special discounts on their Italian wines. The response has been enthusiastic, and now Chef Deal is extending his idea beyond nightly specials into a full-blown wine dinner.
The Hope Valley Bottle Shop will feature several of the wines for the dinner in their Wine Station for several days leading up to the dinner, giving you a sneak peak at what is to come. At the end of the dinner, the wines will be offered for sale through Hope Valley Bottle Shop, at prices 15-20% lower than normal retail price.
The Menu:
Clams and bacala fritters in parsley brodo with bruschetta
La Viarte Pinot Bianco 2006
Risotto of porcini with seared duck liver
Canonica A. Cerreto Chianti Classico 2004
Gratin of nebbiolo braised duck leg and white beans with aromatic bread crumbs
Guido Porro Barolo “Lazzairasco” 2003
Porchetta (fennel-stuffed slow roasted pork) with polenta
Canonica A. Cerreto ‘Sandiavolo’ (Super Tuscan) 2003
Lime semifreddo with rosemary syrup
Elvio Tintero Moscato d’Asti 2007
